La Thuile and The Aosta Valley. Major reasons for suggesting La Thuile are the deserted pistes - no queues, friendly locals, reasonable prices and Monte Bianco as a background providing some of the most famous scenery in the Alps. The village retains the expected charm of a traditional alpine village, with genuine Italian ambiance. It is a place that people return to, year after year.

This is an excellent resort, offering first class service and prices. Using a bed and breakfast hotel package the evenings are all about choices. There are a variety of excellent, inexpensive restaurants to sample. Food and wine are the passion of local life. There is not a restaurant in La Thuile that could not be recommended and the choice is from simple brasserie fare to exquisite cuisine. Evening and après ski bars are all within easy walking distance .

The Skiing La Thuile is linked with the French resort of La Rossiere. Skiing over the border is a daily routine. It has an extensive modern lift system, no waiting in queues. Piste maintenance, safety and markings are exemplary. The teaching areas are well graded with beginner areas at the bottom and mid station of the mountain. The pistes are wide and offer quick progression to the rest of the mountain. Skiing over the border to France is within the grasp of most first time skiers!

Advanced skiers have a playground of challenging blacks, accessible, awesome off piste and affordable heli-skiing. Descents of the Valley Blanche to Chamonix, probably the most famous of all off piste runs, are possible. The lift pass includes two days skiing in the local resorts of Courmayeur and Pila. There are cross country tracks in the village.

Chalet Alpina. Chalet Alpina will be our base in La Thuile. Debbie and Eddy host this cosy family run 3 star hotel in a tranquil location only 5 minutes walk from the lift station. The bedrooms are well equipped; there is a relaxing lounge area with TV and self service bar. Rooms are mainly twin or double. Home from home!
